The ever increasing demand for ambulance services is at it highest. The response time targets are not being met, with police having to take seriously ill patients to hospital in their vehicles. Dispatches investigates why the demand is rising and looks at the options of what can be done to tackle the problem.  There are people who have suffered as a consequence of waiting for an ambulance. He also explores how response times are being calculated to see if it reflects reality on the ground.

The programme is Channel 4’s award-winning investigative current affairs programme and has been running since 1987.
