In November 2013, Alex Lewis happened to catch what was an every day common cold. However, in an extremely rare case, it developed into toxic shock syndrome. This resulted in him losing both of his legs, arms and part of his face.
The documentary starts off from the point just days after Alex lost his limbs and shows how his physical rehabilitation was just half the story. Even more challenging was rebuilding his relationship with his partner Lucy and winning back the love of his three-year-old son, who could no longer bring himself to kiss his father’s disfigured face.
