The periodic series is set in an 1870’s Yorkshire Dale shanty town. It is the home to a diverse community of pioneers, settlers and outcasts who are building a railway viaduct.

Jessica Raine stars as a penniless widow, She arrives with her teenage children and ends up setting up a boarding house for labourers.

This new ITV series contains a bit of everything. There is romance, murder mystery, industrial sabotage, social history and an 1870’s Yorkshire pioneering frontier spirit.
