More trauma, my adrenalin and more heart wrenching happening in casualty. A 22-year-old cyclist is rushed to St George’s Hospital after he collided with a car on the way to work and `bullseyed’ its rear window. Since he was not wearing a helmet, doctors send him for a CT scan to assess whether he has sustained a serious head injury, or life-changing damage to his neck, spine or internal organs. Meanwhile, 91-year-old Peter arrives at A&E three nights after suffering a fall at home, and 26-year-old Emma needs treatment for a head wound sustained during an epileptic seizure.
24 Hours in A&E follows the staff and patients of St. George’s Hospital, London as they cope with a typical day’s shift in the emergency department.
