A British science-fiction television drama first aired in 1963 depicts the adventures of the Doctor, a Time Lord— a space and time-travelling humanoid alien. The Doctor explores the universe in his TARDIS, which is really a time-travelling space ship. Twelve actors have currently starred in the series as Doctor Who.
